What is International Credit Union Day (ICU Day)?

ICU Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948 and is designed to create awareness and celebrate the ways credit unions improve the lives of their members around the world.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the global credit union movement celebrates 77 years of ICU Day under the theme “A Steady Signal in a Noisy World”, to remind members that in a world full of uncertainty and constant change, credit unions remain a steady signal: rooted in trust, people, and community. This year’s ICU Day visual identity highlights exactly that — real people creating real connection and impact.

The global credit union movement is now more than 400 million members strong, and they are served by more than 67,000 credit unions in 100 countries.
