Access Credit Union Announces Retirement of President and CEO

Access Credit Union announced today that Larry Davey, President and CEO of Access Credit Union will be retiring in August 2025, bringing to a close a remarkable tenure that saw the Credit Union transformed from a regional financial institution to the largest credit union in Manitoba.

Davey has served as a CEO of various credit unions across Manitoba for over 20 years. On taking the role of President and CEO of Access Credit Union in 2012, Larry led Access across one of the fastest and most successful organizational expansions in credit union history, growing from $1.5 billion in assets in 2012, to over $13.5 billion in assets in 2025.

“We are tremendously grateful for Larry’s leadership and vision that has not just transformed Access Credit Union but also fundamentally altered the credit union system in Manitoba,” said Board Chair Curt Letkeman. “His passion for change, empowering staff to reach their full potential, and making our communities a priority has resulted in a credit union positioned for the benefit of all Manitobans. We look forward to celebrating Larry and the contribution he has made to Access Credit Union as his retirement date approaches.”

Davey shares, “It has been a privilege, working with the staff and membership at Access and I thank them all. It was an honor to witness the strong collaboration of the seven credit unions, who came together over the last four years. This allowed Access to build on their individual organic growth, becoming the largest credit union in Manitoba. Access Credit Union is primed for success for many years to come.”

The Board has begun a formal process to find a successor shortly. Davey will continue as President and Chief Executive Officer during this process and ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
