Access gives back to our local communities in 2024

Access is committed to strengthening our communities by supporting organizations, charities, and events that reflect the values of our members, employees, and communities.

We know that by building relationships through a shared goal, we can help our communities thrive and make a positive impact.

Our staff care deeply about the communities in which we live and work, and employees collectively contributed over 17,000 volunteer hours in 2024. In addition to volunteering, our employees also contributed $157,000 towards our Jeans for Charity Program. This initiative is optional for our staff; they can wear jeans on Fridays with a minimum $3 donation each week, and Access will match those donations.10 local charitable organizations were selected by Access employees to be the recipients of the Jeans for Charity Program.

In 2024, Access hosted a variety of events for our members and communities to enjoy. These annual events are generally cycled through a variety of our communities each year. Access hosted over 20 events which included: Shred Days, Pancake Breakfasts, Junior Golf Events, Movie in the Park nights, Winter Pop-ups, and more! In February, we visited and read to over 40 local schools during I Love to Read Month; 23 of these visits were led by our Directors of Greetings (D.O.G.) Bill and Nickel. Bill and Nickel continue to visit our branches Monday – Friday and attend many community events. You may have seen them in your branch, at Movie in the Park, or a winter pop-up, or even waving a paw in a local parade!

Another big event was the 11th annual Access Charity Golf Tournament which raised $125,590.34 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of MB and Katie Cares. This event saw over 200 golfers and many generous sponsors come together to support two incredible organizations that Manitobans are so grateful for.

Access offers 16 different financial literacy workshops to help increase financial knowledge and prepare for life's biggest events. In 2024, our Financial Literacy trainers facilitated over 50 Financial Literacy workshops in schools, businesses, and organizations. The trainers use tools and resources to give our members, and the wider community the knowledge and skills they need to achieve financial success.

We are proud to share that in 2024 Access gave back a total of $2,190,842.81 to local charities and non-profit organizations that are working to achieve the same goal as we are – to grow and sustain our communities. Each year we do this by supporting a well-rounded list of areas of interest including Education, Health & Welfare, Sports & Recreation, Economic Development, Youth & Senior Support, Environment and Arts & Culture.

Community is one of the pillars of Access Credit Union. These events and initiatives bring our members and communities together, providing opportunities to engage and celebrate our efforts.

Thank you to all our communities for your dedication and support.
